Background and History
Cleveland Eastside Ecumenical Consortium (CEEC) began in 2001 with a heart to serve and minister to the hungry, the sick, the socially displaced, those in prison and the spiritually thirsty–just as Jesus Christ had done when He lived on earth. Seeing the potential synergy between churches, business-owners, social services organizations, and
government agencies to meet these needs, organization founder Caroljean Gates began establishing a network of members and partners with the same heart to serve. In developing the scope of services, CEEC used a three-year study conducted by The Federation for Community Planning and United Way Services. Based on that research and the vast experience of its members, CEEC proposed to address some of the most critical problems facing our communities in the 21st century.
CEEC actively promotes collaboration; working with its network of partner
and member organizations to effectively deliver services. Our faith-based
programming models balance following Christ’s example with a business
practical approach to programming that meets needs. CEEC currently provides
its programs and services free to the community at-large. To date, CEEC has
helped over 2,100 individuals bridge physical, social and educational barriers
to give hope and improve lifestyles for the better.
